In the mid 1990s, the introduction of digital technologies together with my work in the photography field lead to my engagement in new ways of art production. In 1999 I moved to Weimar (Germany) to start researching on the new artistic languages catalyzed by this incipient reality.

At the beginning of 2004, Efraín Foglia started his PhD studies at the Univesitat de Barcelona and centered his theoretical research around the following areas:

- Emerging scenarios in Art and new technologies.
- Art in the MediaCity. (Connection between virtual & physical space).
-Data visualization.
-Globalization and collective participation networks.
